Working across a diverse range of media—including film, sound, virtual reality, and electronics—Ong Kian Peng positions his practice at the confluence of art, technology, and ecology. His immersive environments and installations explore ecological thought, confronting issues such as climate change, environmental crises, and the evolving relationship between humans and technology.

Ong’s work navigates the entangled dynamics of culture, nature, and machine, crafting visionary scenarios that prompt existential reflection on humanity’s role in shaping the future of a fragile planet. His projects have been presented at major institutions including the Tainan Museum of Fine Arts, Singapore Art Museum, Arebyte Gallery (London), ICA London, Total Museum (Seoul), and the National Gallery Singapore. He has also exhibited at key festivals such as Ars Electronica, SIGGRAPH Art Gallery, FILE Festival (Brazil), Currents New Media (USA), Japan Media Arts Festival, and the Singapore Biennale.

He holds an MFA from UCLA’s Design Media Arts program, supported by the DesignSingapore Scholarship, and is currently pursuing a PhD as a Research Scholar at Nanyang Technological University, where he also serves as Assistant Professor at the School of Art, Design and Media. In 2015, Ong was awarded the President’s Young Talent Grand Prize. He is also the co-founder of Supernormal.space, an independent platform for emerging and experimental art practices.
