ONG Kian Peng is an artist whose work lies at the intersection of art, technology, and ecology. His research delves into the media arts and expanded cinema, using a broad range of mediums such as film, sound, creative technologies, and virtual reality (VR). At the core of his practice, Ong explores how immersive media, ecological thinking, and imagination can be powerful tools to blur the invisible boundaries between humans and nature. He seeks to create new perspectives on the imperceptibility of climate change, presenting immersive and synaesthetic experiences that connect our consciousness to the looming ecological crisis.

Ong holds an MFA in Design Media Arts from UCLA and is currently a PhD candidate at Nanyang Technological University. His works have been featured internationally in renowned institutions like the Tainan Museum of Fine Arts, Singapore Art Museum, Arebyte Gallery London, ICA London, Total Museum Seoul, and National Gallery Singapore. He has also showcased his work at prominent festivals such as Ars Electronica, Siggraph Art Gallery, FILE Festival Brazil, Japan Media Arts Festival, and the Singapore Biennale.

In 2015, Ong was awarded the prestigious President’s Young Talent Grand Prize. He continues to push the boundaries of artistic exploration, particularly in the context of climate change, expanding how art can shape our understanding of the environment and our relationship with it.
